We understand the job
We talk to the people who will use the software and the people who have to keep it running, and we write down what a good outcome looks like before anything is built.
A small software engineering company in Colorado, founded to build public-sector software that lasts.
Government and nonprofit teams often end up with software that was expensive to build, hard to change, and delivered by a vendor who has since moved on. The people who depend on it every day are left working around it.
Merion Systems was founded to do that work differently: understand the job the software has to do, build only what is needed, write it so the next engineer can follow it, and stay around to support it.
That is not a complicated idea. It mostly comes down to being clear about tradeoffs, working in small steps you can see, and leaving behind something your own team can own.
Merion is run by its founder, who is directly involved in every engagement rather than handing work off once the contract is signed. A fuller professional background is available on request and will be published here soon.
How we talk about experienceWe talk to the people who will use the software and the people who have to keep it running, and we write down what a good outcome looks like before anything is built.
Scope and priorities are agreed up front. Work arrives in small increments you can review, and decisions are communicated as they are made, not at the end.
Documentation, tests, and an operations handoff are part of the delivery. If you want us to keep maintaining it, we will, but you will not be stuck with us.
Tell us what you are trying to build, fix, or replace. We will tell you plainly whether we are the right fit.
